Memorial Day marks a monumental moment in Velveteen history. I've created my first playlist, available below, with continuous flow, sand and surf inspired. Hopefully this playlist moves you the way it moved me, and if you would like any of the individual mp3's, just let a brother know. Weekend Recap: Bike Rides, Road Trips, Marlboro Lights, Patron Shots, Oliver Peoples, Board Shorts, Lobster Rolls, Surf Lodge, Phish Show, Soho Grand, SPF 0.

Wherever the road takes you this weekend, make sure this song is playing. I know it's been a while since I've said hello, please forgive me, spring is typically slow for blogging. And now Spring is over. Yo summer.
David Bowie wrote this song for British glam rock band Mott the Hoople when they were facing a break up due to lack of commercial success. There's your lesson in music appreciation for today. Now download the shit out of this song and scroll the f down.

Aside from the extra large coffee I purchase every single day on my way to the train, a new track freshly uploaded to my iPod is partially responsible for waking me up on most New York mornings. This song is a champion blend and I strongly recommend it for the cruelest commutes. It's a Daytrotter recording of Liam Finn and it's quite spectacular. Oh, and it won't cost you $3.21 like my venti ice coffee.

Sorry, I've had lots on my plate. I'll skip straight to the music. Here are two tunes to get you back in the velveteen groove. My girl Ellie Goulding has gotten lots of press lately between her SNL performance last Saturday and her appearance at the Royal Wedding in London. In addition, I've included a bangin cover of Lisztomania by Edwin Van Cleef.
The Velveteen is where I share with you my profound love for music. I encourage you to support the artists I preview. These tracks are posted for evaluation and sampling purposes only.
