REACH OUT AND TOUCH FAITH

When you hear an acoustic version that upstages the original, there's no better moment. This Depeche Mode unplugged version of Personal Jesus is a keeper for life. Save it in your "I'll pass down this down to my children and my childrens' children" playlist.

THANK YOU BRAD BROWN.......

for this insanity of a song. My first reaction? It's almost too good to share. When I heard this song, within seconds, I wanted to protect it. Limit how many ears it would enter. But I just can't do that, it's against my religion. So here it is, please enjoy. Experimental underground German funk. Who mit knew?

GIG

BAND CRUSH

This boyfriend girlfriend duo is a rare find for lo-fi pop lovers. After posting a few of their songs on the web about a year ago, bloggers and beyond went crazy, immediately trying to promote slash sign them. One of my few fall band crushes for sure and oh, it's also a Daytrotter studio session which makes it even tastier.

NEW KID CUDI ALBUM ARTWORK IS SICK

ALL I NEED IS A GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS

WOW. MGMT has been out of my radar for a while considering they put on the worst show at Red Rocks early this summer, however, Erol Alkan is currently fully responsible for my change of heart because this rework is off the fucking chain. What a productive week so far for the velveteen. And I just got internet back in my apartment after a three month internetless binge, effff u time warner. Oh, and take this song with you everywhere!

SWEET LIKE LEMON SQUEEZY

In case you haven't noticed I love RAC mixes of anything. They can remix a big fat turd and I would still lick it's forehead. This is Zowie, she's from New Zealand (my favorite place in the world) and she just debuted her bangs, batons, and beats on American soil this month. Don't email me if you don't like this song because if you don't, it wasn't meant for you in the first place. Consider this the best Monday in velveteen history. Thanks Katie Witkin. Oh, and scroll down for NEW Lykke Li, what!

BEAUTIFUL ALWAYS WINS

I'M YOUR PROSTITUTE

I've been highly anticipating today for about two weeks. Lykke Li's first single off her sophomore album was released on her website today, available for download, to all her stalkers, I mean fans. This woman is something else. I saw her in Williamsburg last year, or maybe two years ago, she was out of control. Came out in a hair salon smock, smashing cymbols, making it rain with drum sticks. If this single is a sign of what's to come off her album which drops early next year, then it's worth the wait. Drums, drama, drink, drank, drunk.

LAST NIGHT WHEN I WAS SLEEPING IN THE NIGHT WHEN I WAS SLEEPING WELL I DIED WHEN I WAS SLEEPING IN THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT

I've been quite productive with live music this month. I've managed to see Ra Ra Riot, Miike Snow, Phoenix, Daft Punk, and Mark Ronson. Aside from playing at my favorite venue in the world, the Willy B Hall of Music, Mark Ronson & The Business International are a memorizing act and like the house salad at Olive Garden, they leave you begging for more. This song has still not escaped my head. And when that happens, I share it with you.

PARADISE

Have always loved Bon Iver. They belong in the same family as Iron & Wine, Milosh, and Telefon Tel Aviv. This song soothes and relaxes. Not one of my famous calorie burner, yet still nostalgic of good times. Thanks Tal, for six minutes and forty one seconds of bedtime goodness.

MAN O MAN YOU'RE MA BEST FRIEND

Not in a very long time has a song impacted me so instantly the way this one just did. I'm sitting at my office, on my prehistoric PC, with no permissions, zero download access, but somehow, I navigated through the corporate forcefield in order to share this song with you guys, immediately. It's an incredible version of Edward Sharpe's Home. He is actually playing with the Magnetic Zeros tonight at Bardot in Miami's Design District for the lounge's 1 year anniversary, so if you're in the 305 get your black ass over there. This subtle remix is a hippy lover's dream slash I've already listened to it 6.5 times in a row. Gotta go!

CAN I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION FOR THIRTEEN MINUTES AND FIFTY FOUR SECONDS?

Am I the only one who hates watching youtube videos? Call me corporate but there's nothing more I despise than when someone sends me a link to a youtube video. No thanks. That being said, this song is just under fourteen minutes and worth every second. It's off a Colette compilation from Paris and I highly recommend it. Please download. Press play. And make it rain.

SLOW DOWN EVERYONE YOU'RE MOVING TOO FAST

Because most of my posts are surefire calorie burners, I decided to post something a little more chilled out. But don't get used to it! This is James Blake (genius) covering Feist (also a genius) and I cannot wait for his album to finally drop. He's a dupstep producer from London so get to know his name because I said so. Just kidding. Not really. This track is a sexy tune. So I guess you can still use it to burn calories. Gosh it feels good to be back.

MARGARITAS, MARLBORO LIGHTS, TRUFFLE MAC & CHEESE, PIT BULLS, BEVERLY HILLS, HIGH CEILINGS, KETLE ONE, SPICY SALMON, CHINATOWN, HUSTLIN, SAPPORO

That's what I've been up to. Hence the minor hiatus. But I'm back and kickin with heaps of goodies and loads of righteous news. First off, enjoy this Calvin Harris remix of Jamiroquai's Canned Heat. Nothing not to love. I know everyone out there likes to listen to a jam or two while they're getting dressed to hit the streets, so remember this track next time you hop out of the shower. So...lots of velveteen action in the NYC. I'll be DJing a few events in the upcoming weeks. Look out for a weekly gig at Kush on Chrystie Street in the LES. Maybe a Timberland party for SCOOP, and definitely something for Halloween..That's all for now - check ya later.
