EENY MEENY MINY MOE

Lots of action on the velveteen front this week. For starters, my gig this Friday should be a total shit show. Lots of dancing. I'm doing an hour of requests, a tribute to Biggy (shout out to @missdaphna) and well, a huge bar with ice cold cocktails. Between starting a business and promoting the velveteen, I admit I've been slacking in the post department. So for you, I have three songs that I can't stop listening to at the moment. I just want to mention that the The Temper Trap remix you see below is easily the best song I've ever heard in my entire life. Oh, and The Rapture song is brand spanking new. The Otis Redding track comes courtesy of Surf Lodge.

BOUNCE

I know it's been a minute, but what I have cooking is seriously sensational and well worth the wait. I've gotten lots of love for my playlists thus far, but sometimes the people have just enough room for just one jam. FYI this track contains moments of cheezines, but overall an amazing baseline and haunting intro. Hopefully this holds you over until my latest and greatest Surf Lodge / Ruschmeyer's inspired playlist. Coming very soon to a speaker near you.

WONDERWALL

Pretty much the best cover song of all time. Followed closely by Sparklehorse's version of wish you were here which is on the 7/4/VLVTN playlist below. If you don't have this one, now you do. If you have it, consider this a reminder to dig it up and start listening to it again and again.

THERE'S A BABOON LOOSE IN NEW JOYZEE!

Listen up people. It's been a very productive summer so far and I'm not just talking about bar tabs and black outs. I've seen The Kooks, I'm seeing The Rapture (by the way expect new albums from both in the early Fall), I'm going to this and who knows what else is in the works. Colorado, Montauk, Miami, London, maybe Brooklyn if there's time. What I'm really trying to say is I've been so busy and I feel a burning shame for not updating the Velveteen regularly. I'm shaping up and promising you the world, so best believe there will be a little treat, a little bread crumb of mp3, just for you, right here, every day (almost) for the rest of this not so intolerably hot New York summer.

INDEPENDENCE

To my friends and fans, Happy 4th. It's been so long since my last post, so I'm coming back with a bang. Instead of hooking it up with a post-July-4th-playlist I decided on the pre-weekend-playlist-plan. Blast it wherever you are this weekend, whoever you're with, and I promise it will float any boat. To crispy tans, delicious cigs, and cold cocktails.
