As we wrap 2010, it gives me great pride to announce the soon to be 1 year anniversary of the Velveteen. Hopefully I've captivated enough music junkies in the first 365 days of this project, and undoubtedly I'll do my best to round up sum mo in the next slew of 365. I've never asked you for this....but today, or tomorrow, or whenever, can you pass the blog to five people you know would like it? Even if you've mentioned it before, mention it again. If one person out of the five falls in love I can gain a ton of viewership. You get it. Anyway, this is a cool song. You'll agree. And play it multiple times. The usual.
Cannot believe I missed this. I mean I can believe it but I refuse to accept it. Kid Cudi shut down Greene Street in Soho and performed three new tracks on the back of a pick up truck. I must have missed his call with the heads up. Damn. It. Anyway, this track is a David Guetta / Kid Cudi collaboration and it's simply amazing. Use it and abuse it. That would be the best therapy. Lots of good thanksgiving treats coming to my loving listeners this week, so stay tuned. I have a really eclectic mix of flavors... like a turducken.

While I love the acoustic version of this song, hearing the original, more upbeat presentation is equally if not more rewarding. Depending on your mood I guess. Robyn is the shit and so is this song- it was her first single off her most recent release Body Talk Part 2. Although....say wasup to Body Talk Part 3 because she drops her third release uhhh tomorrow. It contains 10 remixes of previous tracks and 5 brand new songs. Good year for Robyn. Good year for the velveteen. Who else that's awesome isn't as happy? I don't know...
If The Beatles had babies, this would be their band. But instead of living in London, they'd hail from Los Angeles. And they'd write nostalgic tales of sunsets and West Coast highways. I've had this song for so long, and I absolutely love it. I think you will too.
No song is better left unfound and with this discovery I can get into bed appeased. It's by a band called The ONE AM Radio and it's pretty good. A good find and a better share. Probably goes well with an ice coffee and a cold morning subway commute. If you drive, listen to this song on a half empty street. Drive fast.

I had to post this. It's Kanye featuring Bon Iver and it's an absolute joke. At the end of the day, the man can rip on anyone he wants. Lost in the World could be one of my favorite songs of the year. It's fucking beautiful, it goes with anything. Pain, loss, love, heartbreak, play it the moment you buy a new puppy. Works regardless. Just sick. Maybe we can be friends after all Mr. West.

Lots of shit has gone down in the last week. I'll skip straight to the music though. I know I've been MIA so I'll reward you with a few good tracks. No bullshit, just straight downloads. Enjoy.

Seroiusly lock me up in a tiny room for 30 days straight with some publix chicken tenders, ranch, marlboro lights, gatorade, and neverending take away shows. I live for these, check out blogotheque that's really where it's at. It's in French but you'll figure it out baby. This is an Aloe Blacc take away show- he's performing I Need a Dollar which I'm sure you're all familiar with you HBO watching papichulos and mamichulas.

I know, it's Thursday already! Week flew by..feels like yesterday that I was eating Wildwood BBQ (chicken fingers, pulled pork, mac & cheese, cornbread) on my friend's couch in the West Village, watching football and listening to the crackheads storm up 6th Ave for the Halloween Parade. I tried to stay sober until now, and I have minus a few Marlboro lights and servings of wine, however, this song should help revive anyone suffering similar symptoms: longest hangover of 2010. Halloween took a fucking toll on my Pinocchio self last weekend but since I'm a real boy, I'm back for more. Enjoy.
