To all my loyal listeners, I cannot thank you enough for the endless love. Ideally, I'd say that's what keeps this thing going, but that's bullshit. My obsession exists with or with out your praise. This track has been playing nonstop on my iPod today. At the pool, on Lafayette, in my office, right now from this desktop. It is everywhere. After La Esquina spit me out onto Lafayette last night, I weaseled my way into the black hole aka South Side. The frown that used to exist upon cigarette smoking has now turned into a firm FUCK OFF! So smokers beware - South Side is no longer an underground ashtray. However, it is an underground dance party that never fails to deliver. I spent most of my night harassing the DJ and to the victor go the spoils so consider yourself the victor, and spoiled. Amazing = Calvin Harris remixing Mika's We are Golden.

Finally finally! I've been tracking, stalking, spying, lurking, and creeping the world wide web for access to Ra Ra Riot's highly anticipated sophomore album The Orchard and guess what I gotz it. Boy, which I posted a while back, was the first single leaked off the record. Shadowcasting is probably my 2nd favorite but honestly the entire album is entirely amazing. They have stepped it up in a major way and I genuinely hope you soak this album up the way I am.
If you're not ready to listen, go back to where you came from. Daniel Merriweather, sidekick sidestep sidebrother act to Mark Ronson, debuted his premiere album a while back, and I'm busy listneing and loving. Took long enough to come out, but not long at all to get into. He calls this track Change and it features Wale, duh. Piano. Hip Hop. Soul. Amazing vocals. Sorry for the long lapse in between posts but I've been slightly distracted with something special.

After many requests and follow up rejections, I've finally decided to listen. To you. So, debuting the first velveteen playlist on the blog is quite exciting and very long overdue. Now, for you lazy civilians, streaming an entire hour's worth of music is at your fingertips. You don't have to walk back to your laptop or whatever everytime you wanna hear a new song. You know how playslists work. So here you go. Stay tuned for more. Customized. Specialized. Velvetized. Playlists.
Wanted to post this, don't feel like typing or being clever or making your smile, laugh, giggle, wink, or tear. HOWEVA, I do still like to share. This is off the Eclipse soundtrack. It's Mr. Cee Lo Green and it's a good one to unwind to on your end of day work commute.
A few months back I posted Osaka Loop Line by Discovery and multiple people literally thanked me. So here's another reason to love on Discovery and me for that matter. This is 'So Insane' off their debut album 'LP' and it's pretty much so insane.
Finally! I've been searching high and low for this track prolly maybe para un month. Siiiii! Clearly, I finded it. If amazing music was a currency I'd have deep pockets. Instead, I'm half deaf, I own 4 ipods, and a free url. Still priceless I guess. Another shazaam exclusive, this is Chk! Chk! Chk! with a track from their 2004 album entitled 'Louden Up Now.' It's Thursday night - get to Baddie's cuz I'll be there making/taking requests! Redic baseline p.s.

This remix mash up or whatever you wanna call it is pretty smooth. From the first moment I heard the original Friendly Fires track 'Paris' I was a major fan. Fast forward to the Williamsburg Hall of Music four months later: front row, high energy, and I cannot wait for more from them. Anyway if you're at a rooftop this summer somewhere smoking something hit play on your ipod for deeez track meng.

It's been a while since RA RA RIOT released something new and noteworthy but as predicted those days are over. Their new album THE ORCHARD (guaranteed to be a stunna) drops August 24th on Barsuk records and here is a preview of future goodness. I just love violins. Period.
Perfect timing. My presence in New York in long overdue as I've been away on tropical leave in Miami for the last month. Lots of interesting everythings took place while I was here, and as usual, my music and photos play storyteller. This song comes from the 'An Education' soundtrack which is one of those records that needs to be played from beginning to end in one session. Goes well with cigarettes, open windows, and a bottle or two of wine. Think suburban London, 1960's, jazz, and a convertible Mercedes.
The Velveteen is where I share with you my profound love for music. I encourage you to support the artists I preview. These tracks are posted for evaluation and sampling purposes only.
